Massey Children Hospital

Massey Street Children’s Hospital, Lagos is the oldest children’s Hospital in the West African Sub-region. It was opened in 1914 as the first general out- patient clinic in Lagos. It later became the first maternity hospital in Lagos in 1926. When the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital in Lagos was completed in 1961, the hospital was converted to a children’s hospital. Thus the historic medical centre which once served as the first main out-patient clinic in Lagos before the world war and then the first Maternity Hospital became yet another first, by becoming the first children’s hospital in Lagos. Our mission is to Provide prompt and specialist health care services for all paediatric patients in Lagos State and its Environ in a clean and healthy environment through improved Knowledge Base, Technology, Research, and Training.
