Description
The Federal Medical Centre (formerly called the Nigerian Railway Hospital) was commissioned on 23rd November, 1964 by the then president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe of blessed memory. It was established solely to cater for the medical needs of the workers of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and their families. Between 1967 -1970, during the Nigerian Civil War, the hospital was annexed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where wounded soldiers were catered for. To sustain a dynamic and comprehensive health delivery system that is effective, efficient ad affordable in an atmosphere where staff are proud to serve and public, confident to use. To be a hospital that is able to fund development projects through increased revenues and partnerships to deliver quality, friendly affordable medical service by high performing and motivated staff.
